Method and caveats

Figures come from the DBE's NSC School Performance Report, which covers full-time candidates at public and independent schools. A pass rate is candidates who passed ÷ candidates who wrote. It doesn't show bachelor passes, subject choices, or learners who dropped out or were held back before Grade 12, so a high pass rate isn't the whole story. Rankings leave out schools with fewer than 20 candidates. See data sources.

The 2026 results are released in January; we update these pages as soon as the DBE publishes the new school performance report.
